Hema 269: Great vintage little girls dress knitting pattern 1920/30s. This lovely pattern is worked in vintage silk and angora yarn, sadly difficult to get, but you can by angora (see links pages) and us a 4ply pure wool - unless you can find a light weight silk yarn - there are some around - look on ebay. But this does knit up well in modern 4ply, just change needles to get the size right. This one fits chest 22 inches and is 16 inches long. The rabbit wool is used after the knitting is finished to edge in crochet and to work the little balls in the squares. There are instructions for two different dresses and coats with matching bonnets - so delightfully retro! Worked in vintage 2ply, so use modern 3ply for stated sizes or change to a smaller needle for a smaller size. I have made these for a prem baby in modern 2ply on size 12 (2.75mm) , nice little outfits, a going out dress and coat and an afternoon jacket and dress, both with pretty bonnets to match. to fit 16-17 inch chest.

vintage 1930s dress knitting pattern

Patons 933: Great vintage baby dress and knickers sets from 1930s. These little patterns were produced to save paper during the first years of World War Two and were often patterns that had been in books produced by P&B in the previous few decades. These little dress sets were knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply and allow a little more yarn. To fit 18 months to 3 years, 19 inch chest for the top one and 2-3 years for the one at the bottom 20 inch chest. These little dresses are so easy to knit and you could put a lacy pattern on the skirt part if you wished, pretty puff sleeves and square neck line or a collar.
