Bairnswear 18: Great vintage girl's jumper and skirt suits knitting pattern 1930's. This super pattern has a selection of pretty jumper and skirt sets that would look just as good today as they did over 80 years ago. There are 5 sets. Great for films, theatre and re-enactment weekends too. To fit 8-11 years or 27, 28, 30 inch chest. There is a full rib set, one with a super stripe collar and cuffs and several round neck jumpers with embroidery on - this of course can be omitted. Knitted in vintage 3 and 4 ply so modern 4ply and double knitting will probably work better. These little sets are really worth a try vintage can look cool during a chilly winter!

Bestway 135: Great vintage 1930s knitting pattern for girl's jumper suit. There are instructions for the little jumper with collar and embroidery and a pleated skirt. Worked in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply in a tension square and change needles if needed. To fit an eight year old or 27 inch chest. Very easy to knit this one - great for authenticity for costume in theatre, film, period events and museum displays.

Bestway 177: Great vintage little girl's three piece set knitting pattern from 1930s. There are instructions for skirt, jumper with slip stitch yoke and a cardigan to match all knitted in a wool that is between modern 4ply and modern double knitting, so either will do knit a tension square and change needles to get correct tension for size. To fit 23 inch chest or 3-4 years old. Colours suggester are beige for jumper and deep pink for skirt and cardigan. But you can use any colour you like. Jumper has 4 small buttons at each shoulder.

Bestway 1129: Great vintage girl's skirt, jumper and cardigan knitting pattern from 1940s. Knitted in vintage 3ply try modern 4ply in a tension square. This little set is to fit 2-3 years or22 inch chest. Pretty pleated (wide rib) skirt, jumper with fancy yoke and plain rib cardigan. Very retro.

Bestway A2489: Great vintage little girl's suit knitting pattern 1940s. This lovely pattern is for a little pleated skirt and a short or long sleeves sleeved jumper with colour contrast pattern and also little knickers to match. To fit  22 inch chest. Knitted in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply in a tension square and change needles if needed.

CHP545: Great vintage knitting pattern for girls skirt set with beret and scarf 1930s. This lovely pattern has instructions for pleated skirt, jumper, cardigan, scarf and beret knitted in vintage 4ply, so try modern double knitting in a tension square. With simple diamond pattern, to fit 23-24 inch chest or around 5 years old (children were a bit slimmer then.) This is such an easy pattern and by going up a size needle it can be made larger or down a size to make smaller. If larger always allow extra wool.

Golden Eagle 493: Fabulous skirt and jacket vintage knitting pattern for school girl 1940s. Fabulous little suit form late 1930s early 1940s worked in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply in a tension square. To fit 4-6 years and 6-8 years. Chest measurements 24 and 26 inches. Instructions included for alternative long sleeves. Very smart.

Greenock M11: Great vintage knitting pattern for girls three piece suit with cardigan, short sleeved jumper and pleated skirt. These outfits were very popular through out the 1930, 1940s and the 1950s. This one is from the 1930s and is worked in vintage 4ply. The needles size would seem to be for our modern 4ply so try a tension square in modern 4ply and see if the needles need changed - you can always work one in double knitting. (it is advisable when doing vintage knitting to keep a spare ball of modern 3ply, 4ply, double knitting and Aran on hand to try these tension squares to give you an idea as how things have changed.) The deep V cardigan is very classic of this era, as is the little wide rib fancy jumper with flare collar. The skirt has a wide panel at the front and is shaped during knitting by working stitches together at various intervals. I had one of these for school in grey and yellow in the early 1950s!

My Weekly No3C: Great vintage girl's jumper and skirt set knitting pattern 1930s. This lovely set is so typical of the time and is to fit a 12 year old or 29 inch chest. This skirt is attached to a petticoat bodice, which was very popular at the time. Knitted in yarn similar to modern 4ply. Always work a tension square.

Patons 3690: Great vintage little girl's suit knitting pattern from 1930s. This lovely pattern is for  pleated skirt and stripe jumper with little cardigan to match. To fit 24 inch chest for jumper and 27 inch chest for the cardigan it says to fit 7 years old. always work a tension square and try modern double knitting wool or 4ply for a smaller fit.

Templetons 201: Great vintage girls suit knitting pattern from 1930s. To fit 8-10 years or 30 inch chest knitted in 4ply yarn, but always work a tension square and change needles or to a double knitting yarn if needed. This set has a placket jumper with contrast colour and pleated skirt.

Weldons 526: Great vintage knitting pattern from the late 1930s for girl's jacket and skirt and little jumper with collar and lace zig-zag, design, to fit 3-4 years old  or 24" chest. Worked in vintage 3ply so use modern 4ply, lovely retro pattern for those summer re-enactment weekends as these patterns continued during the war as it was cheaper to reproduce than make new ones. So many of the Bestway and Weldons of this era ran from the mid 30's to late 40's
