Argyll 136: Unusual, very elegant vintage knitting pattern for a waistcoat in the long line that is so fashionable now, 1940's pattern in great condition, a small nick at front edge near bottom. Clean and sound. It says it uses double knitting 3ply, dont be confused this is a type of double knitting, just a little thicker than some of the modern yarns DK yarns, work a tension square to make sure you use the right size needles to get your size. Bairnswear 309: This is a fabulous vintage pattern, great for skiing or other winter pursuits. Vintage 4ply is used so you will probably find modern double knitting will work just as well, try a tension square first and change needles if necassary. To fit bust 33-34 inches. Try a six larger needles for little larger, or knit in double knitting on 10s and 8s(3.25mm and 4mm) to get a large size, but allow for more wool if you do this. Bestway K124L: Great book from early 1950s for 8 different sets to knit for the fuller figure. Sizes from 38-46 inch bust. No all the patterns are multi sized, but it would be easy to adjust size from the other patterns. The pattern on the front for a flattern twinset for the fuller figure is for is for a 43 inch bust and is worked in vintage 3ply or modern 4ply - so in a thinner ply ist will come up a bit smaller or in a thicker pky a bit larger. *Bestway K133: Great 1950s ladies vintage shawl knitting patterns. This fabulous booklet has 24 pages, instructions for a fan and feather scarf, stripe or plain, so simple so retro! A shawl knitted with 60gs of fine 2ply wool - for ladies or baby. A diamond and shell delicate shawl for shoulders or christening, and beautiful pineapple scarf - great for evening wear. And a scolloped shawl in plain or strip, for baby or evening wear. These delicate shawls are knitted in vintage 2ply, you may get away with modern 3ply, but try modern 2ply baby wool as it may make a finer knit, work tenison square and change needles to get tension for size. This is not as daunting as it sounds as to get the aireyness you knit on larger needles than you would imagine for this ply of wool. There is facinating notes on shetland wool processing as it used to be with photos of the sheep and the process. Big shawls were always dressed on a frame, but can be done by pinning out on a thick folded sheet and leaving to dry over night on the floor. This pattern is lovely, it is for what was called a jumper cardigan, with beautifully fitted shoulders and contrast collar and buttons. Bestway 755: Another fabulous vintage knitting pattern for a ladies dress from the late 1930's. Knitted in Bouclet wool on size 10 imperial needles. So could work out to modern 4ply, Bouclet was a fancy yarn with small flat bobbles along its lengeth, you can buy similar today, but watch the ply. Bestway 882: Vintage knitting pattern for easy to knit rib sweater for that sleek retro look. This style was so popular during the late 1930's through the war years and into the 1950's. This is probably from the late 1930's or early 1940's. This one is knitted in SILK. Bestway886: Great vintage ladies jumper worked in a patchwork design. During the Second World War and through the 1940's and early 1950's wool was rationed and in very short supply so odd bits were used that were either left over or from unravelling old garments. This is why there was such a range of these patterns for all the family and also why boleros, vests or tank tops or waist coats were so popular as the could use these smaller quanitities of wool. This one was knitted in vintage 2ply, so modern 3ply will be better to use as it is similar in thickness.
