Hi Everyone, and a belated Happy New Year to all my customers past, present and future.

If you are a frequent customer you will have noticed a couple of changes to my site. I no longer sell original patterns and have reduced my range of patterns to only those published prior to 1960 - although there are still Babies, Dolls and Childrens that are from 1960s (whilst I get things sorted).

I am going to have a seperate site for the dolls called Retro Dolly,  and one for the babies called Retro Baby - both will have patterns, hand made clothes, antique and collectable clothes, and in the case of the dolls - antique and collectable dolls as well.

I will let you all know when they are up and running later this year.

Hi This is a photo sent in by one of my customers Janis Morrison who knitted this beautiful 1940s jumper, Bestway 546 which can be found on my site on the ladies knitting patterns section. Janis used Katia Merino Baby wool for this one in camel and she used mother of pearl buttons for the back fastening. She says she enjoyed knitting it and will send me more pictures of the one that she is currently knitting.

Bestway A2607 knitted in modern 4ply turned out really well 1940s pattern  Gill knitted this lovely bed jacket from 1940s Bestway pattern A2607, knitted in modern 4ply and it worked out really well and is snug and warm. These patterns are so easy and quick to knit and practical. The older patterns are far easier to follow and the instructions are much more precise. If you would like to see more bed jacket patterns follow this link (click here to go to bedwear pages)

Here is a note from Linda who knitted this stunningly beautiful fair isle jumper shown here.

I love your recent Diary notes on the site. I thought maybe you might like to see my latest finished Fair Isle from one of your fab patterns (Patons  257). I managed to gather enough original vintage 3ply, mostly Patons,  to be able to make it entirely from the colours in the pattern, so very pleased that it is as authentic as I could get it. I also had an incredible stroke of luck - I only had just enough of the vintage grey I was using for the jumper, and was puzzling over how I could make the matching cardi in a different combination, when I found the very same grey wool again, enough to complete it all, and even in the same dye lot ! What were the odds....so soon I will be able to send you a pic of that too.
