This little jacket is neat and smart and knitted in vintage 3ply, try modern 4ply if you like, always work a tension square and change needles if needed. To fit up to a 19 inch chest. A rib can be worked at neck and a button used for closure.

These sets come from the days when baby was dressed in pretty, warm, practical clothes - no central heating, chilly days spent snuggled in a large pram in the back garden or front porch. I actually remember those days - ha! These are easy to knit. There are instructions for basic set and two different designs as well as plain stocking stitch. Knitted in 3ply to fit 16 inch chest and will stretch to 18 inch if knitted pure wool or wool mix.

It is suggested that you can embroider little rose in embroider silk in sent of the diamonds at the yoke and round the bottom. A picot edging can be worked if crochet is not your preferred trimming.

vintage baby jacket knitting pattern 1940s PA326-Lynda Cardigan and shrug: Great vintage knitting pattern for a cardigan and shrug from 1940s. The cardigan is knitted in 3ply and has an unusual side buttoning and square neck reminiscent of a previous decade. Knitted in the dolman style to fit 18-20 inch chest. The shrug is easy fit and knitted in thicker wool similar to modern double knitting, for smaller sizes knit in 4ply.

Nice full lower part so would be great on boy or girl. The yoke is pretty ridge pattern and the collar makes nice statement. There are instructions for long or short sleeves. Worked in 3ply always work a tension square.

Valma on the left is knitted in vintage 3ply and should fit 19 inch chest and has sort sleeves. Misty comes in two sizes, instructions for 18-19 inch chest and 21-22 inch chest. Light and lacy with short sleeves and placket front opening. Both are knitted in 3ply. Always work a tension square.

These lovely designs are individual patterns but all have the same chevron design. On the left a pretty dress with wide chevron border in sizes 18 and 20 inch chest. On the far right the dress has a border of chevrons and a fitted yoke with chevron design too. Bootees match this dress. The jacket has also got a chevron design, plain yoke and neat little collar. All knitted in 3ply. Work a tension square to get correct tension for size.

The coat and dress has a imitation smocked waist band. Worked in 3ply to fit birth to 6 months or 18 inch chest.

PSC31-Rachel Cape and Pram Cover: Great vintage knitting pattern for warm rug and cape from early 1950s. Both these are knitted in acorn stitch in thick double knitting for the rug and a 4ply for the cape. Pram cover measures 24.5 by 30 inches. The cape measures 28 inches from top of hood to lower edge. Instructions for the Acorn stitch included.

vintabe baby christening gown knitting pattern 1940s PSC31-Rachel Christening Gown: Great vintage baby knitting pattern from a stunning christening gown from early 1950s. This gown measures 30 inches long to fit 18 inch chest over undies and a petticoat. Knitted in a fine ply similar to modern 2ply on size 13 (2.25mm) needles. The all over lace b pattern has a panel of more intricate design up the front - as the back doesn't have this panel it would be easy enough to work the dress in the lace pattern only just using the instructions for the back up to dividing for the bodice. The beautiful Lucelle wool is not longer made but was a super fine 2ply made from angora, wool and nylon. so you can choose a fine cotton, a fine angora or a fine alpaca.
