ladies tennis sock knitting patterns

Bairnswear 182SX: Vintage knitting pattern for ladies socks, 9 designs in all. Tennis with blackberry stitch, or fair isle tops. For rambling in plain rib or different fair isle top, for golf, with decorative tops and surface design and a pair for badminton with two different top designs, all these knitted in vintage 3ply, which will be similar to modern 4ply, the last pair is for skating and is made in vintage 4ply trimmed with angora, try tension square to see if modern double knitting would work. All socks are in three sizes 9", 9.5" and 10" foot from toe to heal - this can of course be adjusted, but if made bigger allow for a little more wool. 1940's

vintage bestway mens tennis chricket jumper ladies cardigan

Bestway1586: Great knitting pattern men's tennis jumper and ladies tennis cardigan 1930s. This pattern is from the late 1930s, early 1940s and has instructions for both the man's sleeveless tennis or cricket top and the ladies short or long sleeve tennis cardigan. Both are knitted in  vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply in tension square and change needles if needed. The ladies cardigan is to fit 36 inch bust and the man's to fit 40 inch chest. Lovely period pattern.

Copleys 2029: Great vintage men's 1930s tennis or cricket jumper knitting pattern. This one is in a nice bold cable, in general tennis sweater tend to be shorter in the body, but this is easily remedied, but allow more yarn if you are going to lengthen the body part. To fit 40 inch chest. Speedinit wool was similar to Aran. Always work a tension square. Pattern is in super condition with slight scuff to front.

Patons 3647: Great vintage men's sports pullover knitting pattern from 1930s.This jumper is great for tennis, cricket, bowls etc for that retro look! Right out of a period drama! This simple to knit jumper is knitted in vintage double knitting, so try modern double knitting in a tension square as well as modern Aran as this may work better judging by the needles sizes use. To fit 39 inch chest. By the way this is called 'Basil' design. Lovely pictures on the back page of other pattern that were available at the time, some of which I have on my site.

Robin 22M: Great vintage men's tennis jumper knitting pattern from 1930s. There are instructions for long sleeves or sleeveless slip over knitted in a wool that would be similar to double knitting, always work a tension square. To fit 37-38 inch chest. Use a larger size needle to get a lager size chest measurement - but don’t forget to add more wool if you do this.

vintage double knitting jumper in raised rib knitting pattern to fit 38-44 inch chest tennis Shaw 422M: Great vintage knitting pattern for men's tennis jumper from 1950. This design is very sporty and knitted in the revolutionary (for the time) ShawFlex yarn. ShawFlex was a new synthetic yarn made from Terylene and was quite a invention for knitters as it had many advantages of wool but was lighter and did not suffer from moth damage. Any synthetic wool should work well with this pattern. If using pure wool allow a little extra. To fit 38-40 and 42-44 inch chest. Although the pattern suggest 4ply it actual knits as a double knitting, but you can try either. Always work a tension square.

This look like it is knitted in thicker than double knitting wool, so try both Aran and double knitting with the stitches give.
