Coats 159cr: Great vintage CROCHET pattern for a Star Wheel motif from 1930s. Instructions on how to work the motif with illustrations on how to use the motif and how many to make for different items. Usually 40 or 60 size cotton is used, item size will very with cotton thickness used.

vintage 1930s bedspreas crochet patterns

Coats 204cr: Great vintage CROCHET pattern for motif and ideas of using the motifs from 1930s. This is for the Petal Motif as shown, using no40 or 60 cotton giving size of motif when finished. The finished squares are between around 5-6 inches depending on cotton used. There are guides as to how many motifs you need for a bedspread. Balls are usually 20g. Very useful motif as a single one is ideal for mats as shown and being square are easy to stitch together.

Coats 488: Great vintage crochet pattern for jug cover from 1940s. I am so often asked for this one - here it is at last. Instructions to make a jug cover measuring 8-5 inches diameter. Worked in no20 cotton, one 20g ball required plus 38 coloured beads. Very easy to make, great for quick bazaar makes or Christmas gifts or that wedding gift that is really different - a vintage jug with its own cover! This cover has a little cup and saucer at the top.

Copley 2015: Great vintage afghan KNITTING and CROCHET pattern for bedspreads from 1930. There are two designs, the bottom one is knitted and the top one is crochet with embroidery. There is a chart and digram for embroidery included. The crochet one measures 70 x 48 inches. The knitted one is 72 x 48 and is knitted in strips that are then joined together. Double knitting yarn is used. Pattern is in a well used vintage condition with spine split and marks on the back.

Pearsalls 429: Vintage knitting pattern for chevel (dressing table sets) or Luncheon sets (table mats). Knitted in rayon, a shiny yarn that can be replaced by a cotton or shiny crochet thread suitable for size 13 needles ( 2.25mm), probably no 40 would work.

Twilley 202: Fabulous pyjama case and dressing table set knitted in Lyscordet, a soft cotton type yarn.  case measures 10.5 inches by 17 inches  and the mats measure small 6 inches square, medium 6 inches by 11.5 inches and the large one 7 inches by 21 inches. This set is KNITTED for crochet see crochet pages. tension is 7st to the inch on size 12 (2.76mm) needles, so medium to fine crochet cotton would work.

Weldons 577cr: Great vintage bedspread CROCHET pattern from 1940s. This super little pattern is so typical of the era and would have been available in the 1930s as well. The classic bobble motif is worked in thick cotton with large hook and a single motif measures 9 inches. (4 oz (approx  120g makes 3 squares).  There is also a simple square on the back page for making a baby cot or pram blanket. From the illustration it looks a 4ply cotton or art-silk yarn is used for the bedspread and thicker softer cotton for the pram cover.

Patons 54R-2 Great vintage knitting pattern for carpet runner 1950s. This is the STAIR CARPET! What a fabulousKNITTING project for winter nights! It says it takes 0.68 kg per yard at 18" wide . It is not so important what size needles you use or the size of the finished runner, but that it is a firm stable fabric that is produced, this will be easier with a thick firm wool or yarn - not too soft. The rare breeds wool especially Herdwick is great for this.

Bestway 1426: Great vintage crochet and knitting pattern for rug 1940s. This is a lovely pattern for two rugs, this one is the crochet on and is ova, it measures 48 inches by 37 at the widest point and is crocheted all in one peice. Worked on a large hook, no size but life size diagram give to show size suitable. It will take about 50 balls of wool (50g)  (5 x 1bs of rug wool which is 80oz and there are about 30g in an old 1oz ball) There are also instructions knitted rug included in this pattern.
