This super pattern is for two stylish patterns from late 1920 or early 1930s they are worked in soft embroidery thread or soft cotton to the ply of modern 3ply - always work a tension square, it will be a lovely challenge to see how they turn out in modern cotton or modern yarn. Colour suggest to keep the vintage look would be beige and blue. The cuffs and wait rib is knitted after the main parts are worked in crochet on the top left one. This one is to fit 34 inch bust. This one is from the early 1930s and is hand embroidered after knitting. Neat peplum at waist and full leg of mutton sleeves, either long or short. To fit 33-34 inch bust in vintage 4ply which look as though a modern 4ply will work well. Always work a tension square. White with scarlet edging and Royal, Red, Iris, Cowslip, Hunting Yellow and Parrot Green to embroider.

This one is from the early 1930s and is hand embroidered after knitting. Neat sit just below waist style with puff shoulders. To fit 32-33 inch bust in vintage 4ply which look as though a modern 4ply will work well. Always work a tension square. White with Hockey Green edging and Pimpernel, Turf Green, Iris, Hunting Yellow to embroider. The pattern also suggests pastel colours, and trying Navy or black with bright colours.

The fabric needs to be firm but flexible, you could try using double knitting but as this ply was not available at that time it is more likely to be nearer our modern 4ply. There were were wools like 'speedknit' which fell between the two, similar to the 1950s quickerknit - so try and see which one will suit your tension.

This one is for a square yoked jumper with set in long or short sleeves knitted in Cryscelle which was a 4ply type of yarn in a mix of art silk and wool . So try modern 4ply in a tenison square and change needles if needed. Colours suggested Moss Rose, Natural and Red Wine, zip fastener at back.

Copleys 1770: Great vintage ladies military style jacket from 1940s. This is a super pattern with style and superb tailored fit. The double breasted look was very popular at the time and shaping on this one is stunning. Knitted in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply, thus not so bulky as later double knitting versions. Always work a tension square. Three quarter or long sleeves included, shoulder pads were worn if desired. Two size needles are used in alternate rows, very interesting design for those who would like to try something different.

Copleys 1858: Great vintage ladies dress knitting pattern from 1940s. This smooth line and simple design is very slimming and give emphasis to waist. Knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 3ply or if 4ply, try superfine merino and a change of needles. To fit 34 inch bust and 36-38 inch hips. Belt included and closes with press studs. Remember there is a certain amount of give in pure wool so slightly bigger figure will be fine. Easy to make bigger work in 4ply and a size larger needles, always allow more wool if you do this. vintage 1920s cotton jumper knitting patterns

Cotton Jumper 95: Great vintage 1920s ladies jumper knitting pattern. Super pattern with two designs to be knitted in cotton no5 and no30  and no20 on  size 12 needles (2.75mm). There are instructions for the collared blouse which should fit 40-44 inch bust and the button through jumper for about 32-33 inch bust, but both should be easy to adjust to most sizes as it gives clues how to do this in the text. There are line drawings of pieces so that it can be planned as a smaller or large size. Fascinating pattern with French origins, but written in English.

vintage knitting crochet pattern jewellery pattern

Craftwear 01: Great vintage jewelery knitting crochet pattern 1940s. There are instructions for KNITTING the Necklet as shown on cover plus a two row chocker, and in CROCHET instructions for bracelet, earings, brooch, belt and serviette ring. The pattern give quantities in yards, but you can work out how much to use of which ever thread you choose as soon as you have worked one of two things, no tension given, but it looks as if the craft cord would have been about cotton 20 as size 13 (2.25mm) needles are used in the knitting and size 0 crochet hook (not sure of the modern hook size).
