The length is 42" but can be knitted to any length, but to be authentic remember that dresses had returned to almost ankle length (mid calf at the very least) again by the 1930s, with the long slender lines seen here. vintage ladies crochet jumper pattern from 1930s

Patons 3620cr: Great CROCHET pattern for a striking jumper from early 1930s. This pattern has instructions for a pretty, very 30's jumper to fit 32 inch bust. Always work a tension square and try a larger hook or thicker yarn to get a bigger size, but if you do this allow more yarn. Worked in vintage 2ply so try modern 3ply. (or 4ply for size up) Colours suggested are Bright Gold with Tangerine and Chocolate shade of angora for stripes! Nice pictures on the back of other pattern available at the time.

vintage ladies jumper knitting pattern from 1920s patons 3682 Patons 3/682: Fabulous early 1930s knitting pattern for ladies jumper. Knitted in what was termed crochet wool, which should knit to a modern 4ply tension. To fit 36 inch bust. Lovely deep rib, although actually it is a few row rib then a deep band of stocking stitch and blouson style. Lovely sleeves with tight lower half and full upper, little tie at neck or large pearl button would work here.

Patons 3395L: Late 1930's, again a lovely pattern from a great period when austerity was the norm, every one knitted and the top fashion was to wear hand knitted garments including coats, undies, skirts, dresses and suits even hats and bags! and don't forget the gloves! See all my ladies pages for examples of more of these fabulous patterns. This great little jumper has panels of lace, easy to knit and in keeping with an Art Deco styling still prevalent in the late 1930's. Clean, square lines. Knitted in vintage 3ply so try modern 4ply with a tension square and change needles if needed. To fit 38" bust. Lovely pictures on the back page of other patterns that were available at the time. Some of which I do have and will be putting up very shortly.

ladies summer top knitting patterns

Patons 3467:Great vintage knitting pattern from the 1930's for a summer top in unusual pattern to fit 34" bust. Tension is measured over one pattern, it is essential to work the tension square in these vintage patterns to get the correct size as wool and needles are different now, but once you know how many stitches you knit on the needles suggested in you chosen yarn, you know whether you need to add or subtract stitches or a change of needles will work. This pattern has pictures of other pattern available at that time, very interesting, this page is included in the pdf.
