Ardens Beach Suits in Seasonal Designs 1: Fabulous vintage 1920s knitting pattern for a bathing costume. There are no sizes mentioned in these patterns as was often the case early in the 20th Century, so probably medium 34" bust work tension square on the size needles given and similar yarn, which was an artificial silk that knitted to a firm fabric on size 12 needles - it was a medium weight no 5 it says in the pattern. This may need some experimenting with, but is very easy to knit, despite the fact that they are knitted on 5 needles in the round, to make them seamless.

Weldon 646-3: Great vintage swim suit for young lady 1933. Instructions to make this charming  half and half effect suit, to fit shoulder to lower edge 28 inches no bust measurement given. The fabric should be stretchy so will fit probably 32-34 inch bust, but always work a tension square and see how many stitches to an inch you knit in the yarn that you choose - you should be about to work out the size from this. Worked in vintage 4ply, try modern 4ply tension should be 7 stitches and 10 rows to one inch on size 10 (3.25mm).

WKB82Lsw: Great vintage wartime knitting pattern for beach set for Mum or older sister and a little girl. Ladies is to fit 36 inch bust and knitted in vintage 3ply, so try modern 4ply as you will need a firm fabric so as not to fall victim to the 'soggy bottom syndrome' there is no chart for the fair isle diamonds, just written directions. Child's sun suit is top fit 24 inches at the widest part. Back and front alike, so easy to knit this one and a chart for embroidery if required. Very smart, very retro!
