Vintage toy knitting pattern from 1930s Jacko the monkey

Good Friends-Jacko Monkey: Great vintage knitting pattern for a little monkey. Monkeys were a popular toy in the 1920s and 30s as people kept them as pets. My Great Gran had one called Binki - he was so noisy and very naughty, but at night, about 7pm he would curl up in his little bed and go to sleep until 7am in the morning - no problems! He wore a little blue jacket and went for a walk on a lead like a little puppy or sat on Grandpa's shoulder. Enough of that!! This is Jacko and he is very sweet, not sure of size as it does not say. Can be knitted in double knitting or modern 4ply.

vintage toy knitting patterns

Lavenda 909: Fabulous vintage toy knitting pattern. Squirrel, pig and penguin all knitted in vintage 4ply. Try a tension square, you may find double knitting works better, or a change of needles, but don't have your work too loose, which can happen on too larger needles or the resulting animal may be stretch too much when you stuff it. So if one size larger still will not give you the correct tension try double knitting.
